If what HBO's True Blood revealed in season previews following last night's premiere of Season 6 is the true story's course, then black vampire Tara Thorton (Rutina Wesley) is in for another run of victimization. The preview indicated that humans will be torturing vampires in order to learn how to kill them efficiently in the vampire war. All ready there's some double-crossing going on, too.

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy In the video above, MSNBC's Professor Melissa Harris-Perry talks about how female sexual desire has been treated throughout history in our male-dominated culture. Pointing to a New York Times Magazine article "Unexcited" about Lybrido, a new pill awaiting FDA approval that's supposed to "stoke sexual desire in women,"

Miranda Lambert's Emotional Moment at Benefit for Tornado Victims (Video)

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy Miranda Lambert's emotional performance of "The House That Built Me" got to me, too. The country singer and wife of Blake Shelton, sang the song at Wednesday night's benefit on NBC, Healing in the Heartland, for victims of that massive tornado that slammed Moore, Oklahoma, earlier this month. Tornado destruction or not

Dear Tyler Perry: Zora Neale Hurston vs. Richard Wright is Better Example For You Than Zora vs. Langston Hughes (Video)

In a recent interview with his close friend Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry compared Langston Hughes's negative criticism of Zora Neale Hurston's work to Spike Lee's negative criticism of Perry's work.  I think Perry could use a better example when it comes to contemporary black writers downing his movies, plays, and television shows. (The timing of Perry's interview with Oprah coincides with the

Jimmy Fallon's Game of Desks Spoofs Game of Thrones: Hilarious, Worth the Watch (Videos)

No Game of Thrones tonight, folks. This parody of the HBO series by Jimmy Fallon (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) nearly makes up for it with a great laugh. The comic production is called Game of Desks, and the show went all out to mimic the GoT, even the opening is very similar and so funny. Looks like they had a lot of fun making this. The verbal argument over the iron desk near the

The Voice Knock Out Rounds: Shakira's Match-Up, Sincere. Adam's, Disingenuous (Video)

Coach Shakira matched Sasha Allen ("At Last") with Shawna P. ("Maybe I'm Amazed"), and I think Shakira was sincere presenting that knock-out-round match-up. Sasha won, rightfully so, but Shawna was a fierce competitor. At least Shakira tried to offer a real battle. Coach Adam Levine, on the other hand, played the audience a bit, pitting Orlando Dixon ("All My Life") against the

Candice Glover Is Too Good for Idol: Come Together (Video)

All right now. Candice Glover rocked out on the Beatle's classic "Come Together." This young woman could cut a record now. She's got tremendous talent and poise. If you'd like background on that song, here's a link to the Wikipedia entry. Angie Miller also performed exceptionally well tonight singing "Yesterday," and I like her new hair style, shape.

Trevin Hunte Performs "And I Am Telling You" on The Voice

Last night on NBC's The Voice, Trevin Hunte performed "And I am Telling You" from Dream Girls, the show-stealing ballad made famous by Jennifer Holliday and Jennifer Hudson. He changed the words to, "I'm the best man you'll ever know. There's no way I could ever go." His performance seems to have undone Christina Aguilera. She told him that if he does not get a record contract, she wants him to

Nicholas David of The Voice Sings Marvin Gaye's What's Going On (Video)

I appreciate many of this season's singers on NBC's The Voice, but I consistently enjoy Nicholas David's vocals of Team CeeLo. In the video above, Nicks sings Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On." I've already purchased the longer iTunes release. The Twitterverse is abuzz with comments such as Nicholas David has a black soul in his body." As I tweeted at him (@TheFeelin) after I saw last

Common Ties Between Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, LMFAO, and PSY's Gangnam Style (Video)

In this 1989 music video from Janet Jackson for her hit "Alright," you will see two of today's popular dance moves, PSY's "gangnam style" dance and LMFAO's "shuffle" from Party Rock. Watch and see. And in this 1955 video of Bill Bailey tap dancing, you'll see the move associated with Janet's brother, the late, great Michael Jackson, "the Moonwalk." As Michael fans know, the King

The Voice: Trevin Hunte vs. Amanda Brown of Team CeeLo

Here's a sneak peek of one of the battles viewers will see this Monday night on NBC's The Voice. It's Trevin Hunte vs. Amanda Brown of Team CeeLo singing "Vision of Love," a song made possible for Mariah Carey.

Trevin Hunte Sings "Listen" on The Voice

Trevin Hunte's moving rendition of "Listen" on this season's The Voice on NBC. Chills. Yes. As my mother would have said, "He laid that!" Blake Shelton was up asking Adam Levine what was wrong with him that he didn't push his button for this young man. But Trevin's got some stiff competition, including Nicholas David and quite a few others. I'll find the time to watch. I'd buy an album by

Michael Clarke Duncan Passes Away at 54

Via Morris Chestnut's Facebook page, I just learned of actor Michael Clarke Duncan's death. I have not been watching news much lately, so I did not hear of it sooner. Chestnut said in his FB post, "RIP to Michael Clarke Duncan. A man with a tremendous spirit and great talent. It was an honor to have known you. You will be surely missed my brotha!" I never saw Duncan in person, but whenever I

Candy Crowley named as presidential debate moderator

The Commission on Presidential Debates has named CNN's Candy Crowley as one of its moderators for the 2012 Presidential Debates. Crowley will be the first woman in that position since 1992, and with her appointment, three New Jersey teen girls score a victory. In June, this blog reported on the petition circulated by Emma Axelrod, Sammi Siegel, and Elena Tsemberis of Montclair High School that

Whose shoes are those in this Idris Elba photo?

This blog gets hits daily from people who think it's about shoes, but as I've said many times before, "This blog is not about shoes." Nonetheless, sometimes I can't resist an intriguing shoe photo. Today, it's a great picture of the succulent actor Idris Elba that his fan page shared on Facebook. The photo is a three-for-one prize because it features first, Elba, and second, he is holding

Tribute to Whitney Houston, BET Awards 2012

Hats off to BET for this beautiful tribute to Whitney Houston. Her mother, Cissy Houston, performing "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" brought me to tears (and quite a few audience members as well), but Monica's performance of "I Love the Lord" also stirred me. Brandy gave an electric rendition of "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and I'm always happy to see

George W. Bush's head on a spike? Tsk, tsk, Game of Thrones. HBO yanks season one episode.

On one hand, this whole controversy about HBO's Game of Thrones using a fake severed head of former president George W. Bush in episode 10 of season one is silly. It's something that the GOP blew up to recast itself as oppressed for the sake of gaining more power. How Cersei Lannister of them.On the other hand, I've got to wag my finger at the Game of Throne producers and directors. Really?

Michael Ealy Jokes that Taraji P. Henson Stalked Him

I'm pretty sure what was bleeped out on Michael Ealy's interview with Wendy Williams was that he's an "a*s" man so (breasts) cups "don't matter" to him. He said he used to date older women, but now he's more open-minded (as though any ordinary woman reading or writing this blog would ever have a chance with him). The interview was cute, and it seems his co-star from Think Like a Man, the
